Fishing Report

Hey Fishermen:

Just because it's cool weather don't put your rods & tackle away, run out & find 70 degree plus water & apply your technique as you would in summer months. Here on this part of the Gulf Coast, we are lucky on the distance we have to run for quality fish, but they are out there, year round, in close 60-100 miles several types of Big Fish on bottom, year round, trolling for Wahoo, Dolphin & Bill Fish is still on. Be sure to keep a very close watch on fronts that are not strong enough to clear Florida, you can have a lot of revival winds from all directions. Always keep in mind the very unlucky four guys that capsized off Florida this year, resulting in three drownings, "Cold Fronts" & the factor of inexperience. Don't forget about tuna year round-Bluefin and Yellow.

We probably will not have a federal water Snaps season next year due to mishandling regulations on Sport Fisherman. This is a very touchy subject between us & Commercial aspects. The Snaps are so endangered myself and several other friends could not get through big Snaps 15lb to get to the AJ's which by the way have been suspended this Nov. 18th through next season but with knowledge there are over 200 state water locations between Galveston & Matagorda, in which you can still get brands of snaps, flounder & grouper, a little further offshore there are still Grouper, big 3-5 lbs Sand Trout, slot Reds, Drum & Gafftop. Keep in mind do not keep big tagged Reds in Federal waters because this is considered a fish hatchery. There are several proposals in The House to place more state waters keeps 22 of them.
